Slice Engineering wins Startup of the Year

Slice Engineering is proud to announce that we have been nominated and elected by public vote to be the winners of 2021 3DPI Startup of the Year, whilst also being nominated for Company of the year.
We would like to thank all our customers, supporters, and everyone who took the time to help us achieve this important milestone for Slice Engineering. “We are delighted to have been a part of this year’s 3DPI Awards! Since launching in 2016, the 3D Printing Industry Awards have grown to become the largest survey of the Additive Manufacturing industry. The winners are selected by a public vote, and in normal times, the results are announced during a black-tie dinner in Central London.
The 2021 3DPI Awards took place online, and while a YouTube Livestream could not recreate the in-person atmosphere of an in-person event, the event was enjoyed by a wider audience who provided spirited support and cheered for their favorites in the lively comment section.
Michael Petch, Editor-in-chief of, 3D Printing Industry, said, “We were blown away by the phenomenal response to this year’s 3D Printing Industry Awards. Almost 140,000 votes were cast across the 20 categories. I’d like to congratulate everyone who made the shortlists, as our industry continues to grow, standing out becomes tougher, and the support shown by your community and customers is a testament to their faith in the work you are doing.”
“With so many outstanding enterprises and projects nominated, the winning positions were highly contested. In some cases, the difference between first place and fifth was a matter of several hundred votes. I look forward to presenting this year’s winners with their well-deserved trophies next month when the industry gathers in Frankfurt for Formnext.”
The 3D Printing Industry Awards trophy is designed fresh every year. A design competition runs in conjunction with MyMiniFactory, a community-led platform for creativity, and is supported by Protolabs, as manufacturers of the multi-material 3D printed trophy, and Craftbot, a manufacturer of 3D printers.
The Winners of the 2021 3D Printing Industry
Leaders from multinational enterprises joined the stars of 3D printing YouTube channels. From million-dollar metal additive manufacturing systems and 3D bioprinting pioneers to desktop 3D printers our readers picked the winners.
Prof. Ronit Satchi-Fainaro, Ph.D. accepted the Medical Dental or Healthcare Application award for The Satchi-Fainaro Lab, Tel Aviv University, 3DCanPredict ERC project work on a 3D-bioprinted glioblastoma model. Prof. Satchi-Fainaro said, “This is great for myself and the whole team.” The multi-disciplinary effort has produced a glioblastoma model that will aid in the development of a personalized medicine approach to tackling this aggressive brain cancer.
“There are a lot of companies here that have motivated me to get into 3D printing,” said Integza, aka Joel, and winner of the Community Advocate Award. The popular YouTuber also gave a shout-out to fellow Community Advocate of Year nominee, Uncle Jessy aka Clayton Parker for providing material profiles and thanked his half a million-subscriber base.
Materialise Magics took the prize for 3D printing Software Company or Application of the Year. Stefaan Motte, Vice President Materialise Software, said, “It’s rewarding to see Magics engrained within the processes and workflows of these champions of additive manufacturing. Magics enables them to do their magic. It’s great to see users recognize us with this award, we really are building the future of additive manufacturing.”
It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm of the audience for this year’s awards, both in the social media build-up and during the Livestream. They will be launching a regular weekly Livestream called “Another Dimension”, bringing a digest of 3D printing news and analysis together with guests from across the industry. Of course, with the stream will be interactive, with viewers able to join us on the show,” said Michael Petch, Editor-in-chief, 3D Printing Industry.
